Monaco

Monaco is right in the heart of Europe, 23 kilometres from Nice Cote d’Azur International Airport. It is the second smallest country in the world with just 2 square kilometres in size. For 300 days of sun every year, Monaco enjoys the ever-comfortable Mediterranean climate. Furthermore, Monaco is a world-class economy, with an influential voice on the international scene and a leader on sustainable development.

History

The Principality of Monaco has its roots dating back to 1297 when the Grimaldi family took sovereignty of the territory, and built its fortress on Le Rocher, where the Palace of Monaco currently sits in. The royal family still reigns over the Principality, with Prince Albert II of Monaco as the head of state.
